Female Brides’ Wedding Timeline

Below is the Female Brides wedding planning time line guide that eL is talking about. Uh oh … there are issues below that we have not settled yet and they are way past the timeline.

8 months or more to the wedding (Before March):

  • Arrange a time for your folks to meet. Introductions are in order. Organise a cosy dinner for both your families to et to know one another.

  • Start making up your guest list. Take our word for it, the earlier you get this done, the easier it will be to plan the size of your wedding. Don’t forget you’ll need to get both of your parents to do their sub lists before you can collate your final list.

6 months to the wedding (before May):

  • Assemble your bridal party. Pick your attendants and inform them of their duties.

4 months to the wedding (before July):

  • Book and plan your honeymoon. Air tickets can run out fast, so book tickets and accommodation as soon as you both have agreed on a destination.

  • Book hairstylist and makeup artist on wedding day.

  • Gather guest information. Work out a list of full names, addresses, phone numbers of all guests to make it easier to address your invitations.

  • Confirm the menu. Sit down for a tasting meal that usually comes with the dinner package. This is a good time for both families and key bridal attendants to get together.

2 months to the wedding (before September):

  • Pick music for the ceremony. Compile your choice of dinner music into a CD.

  • Order the cakes to be distributed to bride’s relatives.

  • Write the speech. Don’t wait till the 11th hour to do this. Be sure to keep them short and sweet!

  • Send out invitations. Your guests need ample notice of time, date and place of the wedding.

  • Plan the wedding day programme.

  • Appoint a wedding coordinator. If not a wedding planner, appoint a super-organised friend who will run the show with military precision. She/he should be the central point of reference for suppliers and helpers.

1 month to the wedding:

  • Discuss the details of the ceremony. Meet with your officiant and discuss the flow and details of the ceremony. Bring a copy of the programme for easy reference.

  • Confirm flowers. Your bridal bouquet, car decorations, venue décor nad table arrangements are taking shape.

  • Confirm attendance and draw up seating plans. Call up the guests who haven’t RSVped to confirm their attendance for the dinner.

  • Prepare red packets. You’ll need to prepare a generous red packet for the officiant (and his/her assistants, if any.)

  • Pack for honeymoon. Get your luggage and hand-carry baggage ready in advance if you’re leaving for the honeymoon right after the wedding.

1 week to the wedding:

  • Hand over to the coordinator. He/she should handle all the details now, leaving you without a care in the world.

  • Collect the wedding outfits. Your lovely outfits should be stored, uncrushed and unfolded in its suit bag.

  • Final head count. Give or take a few who might pull out at the last minute and notify the hotel of the final number.

1 day to the wedding:

  • Relax. Indulge in pampering treats. Worry about looking good.

  • Lay out the finery. Give your wedding trousseau a final once-over. Lay them out where they won’t get creased before the big moment. Make sure your bouquet and corsages are safely tucked in the fridge for fresh keeping.

  • Have dinner with your parents. It is a significant and emotional night for your parents.

  • Have an early night. You’ll need it. Good luck and congratulations! You’ve earned the right to be a beautiful and happy bride. Well done!
