I booked a 2days-1night stay at the Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa to celebrate eL’s birthday. Sentosa has changed a lot since I visited it the last time. No more Monorail and it’s replaced by the Sentosa Express. Thought we could have a ride on the Sentosa Express to view the island initially but realised that it’s only a means of tranport from one station to another and there are more fingers than the number of stations to count.
Day 1:
We boarded the Sentosa Express at the Imbiah station near our hotel and alighted at the next beach station and toured around it. We planned to take the sky ride and Luge tomorrow. I also bought tickets for the night’s “Songs of the Sea”. Tickets to the 7.40 p.m. show were sold out so we settled for the 8.40 p.m. show which was just nice timing after our dinner.
We had dinner at Thanying near the hotel and although pricey, the food was great! I’m so glad eL had enjoyed all the dishes especially the fish maw soup which tasted like sharks’ fin soup. Talking about it makes me wanna return for another meal again! :p
After dinner, we went to watch the award-winning, “Songs of the Sea”. For 25 min, it was indeed a spectacular show (although the story was pretty lame)! No more boring musical fountain!
Then, I bought a tiramisu cake and iced mocha for eL which unfortunately was slightly crushed by the time we reached our hotel. Nevetheless, it is the thought that counts, right? :)
Day 2: Palawan Beach Southern Most Point of Continental Asia
We woke up and visited the Palawan Beach. We visited our secret paktoring hangout near the Southern Most Point of Continental Asia, which had since been unaccessible. Good memories! ;)
I was looking forward to the sky ride but by the time I boarded it, my fear of heights got the better of me and I ended up grabbing the handrail while making sure that my hat wasn’t blown away and my slippers hadn’t fallen out. :p Actually, it wasn’t really scary as it was a smooth ride. If there’s another chance in future, I’m going to ride again to conquer my fear of heights. :)
Enjoyed riding on the Luge! I think it’s more fun than riding the Go-Kart. Have a go at it if you ever go to Sentosa!
We thought of trying out the Eco-Ride but it was quite costly and due to the lack of time, we missed it.
Although we spent only 2 days there, the experience was rejuvenating! It really felt like we just had a short vacation out of Singapore without thinking about work. (Minus off eL wondering if his patient has delivered and I getting a phonecall from a colleague about work.)
Happy birthday, eL! Hope you have enjoyed the birthday celebration I had planned!
