Forever Love

Binding us together in perfect harmony

Our renovation began officially on 21 June 2006 with the installation of window grilles, metal gate and casement windows. Since then, we have been finalising the rest of the renovations with our interior designer. After the last couple of busy weeks finalising the designs as well as choosing the necessary colours/materials, the interior works are finally going to begin. Today, the workers go to our house to lay the floor-protection. The next three weeks will see the transformation of our house to our eventual little home sweet home :) Hope that the designs that our interior designer came up with will match our expectations of the final product! Here are some pictures of the floor-protection that has been done so far…

We finally made our purchase for the coffee and side tables! We were actually on our way  to my house after both of our parents met up. I intended to stop by the gas station along Upper Thomson Road when we spotted this spanking new furniture mall just next to the station. The attractive as well as well-decorated store window enticed us and we decided to stop by. We spotted a side table and coffee table that we like and seemed like an appropriate size and design :) We took some measurements but were unsure if they fit our designer’s requirements (we didn’t bring our “notes” with us since we had no intention to shop for tables initially).

So, I made a trip back to the shop on my way home today and finally placed the orders. A pleasant surprise was when the shop gave us a small little “cushion stool”, something which I think Cy would like (given that she had been gushing over how cute the “egg cushions” at the Plaza Furniture Mall looked ;P). Here are some pictures of our purchases and the free gift…

and the free gift! :)

The things that I bought for our house have nowhere to be stored and guess where they are left? My parents’ bathroom aka storeroom has ran out of space and so my bedroom is becoming a storeroom, too.

We met up with our interior designer yesterday and selected our materials as well as wall colour of our house. 3 hours of intensive decision-making process left us rather weary by 10:30 p.m. but I sort of enjoyed it as it was a great eye-opener to see a range of materials.

Ideally, this project should complete in August and will leave us time to concentrate on our wedding preparations from then on. My personal calendar alone has tons of things to accomplish in this semester which are competing for my attention with my work in school. Work load in school hasn’t been easy to juggle with because they are always filled with activities and responsibilities for the teachers to do, especially this semester.

Oh yeah, it nearly slipped my mind that we still need to find time to sit down together to finish selecting our wedding photos. Where is time when I desperately need it?

We have been spending the last few weeks wandering around furniture malls looking for an appropriate dining table as well as a coffee- / side-table set to complement our sofa. This experience has been extremely frustrating: if we found the right design, the dimensions weren’t right and if the dimensions were right, we didn’t like the design. We went even to the extent of visiting a custom furniture maker located in some ulu industrial estate. As luck would have it though, we finally found our dream dining table at OM at Liang Court last night. Not only were the dimenions exactly what we wanted (1500 x 900mm), the design was also what we were looking for (glass top with metal legs)! To top it off, we also found exactly the same chair (the black one in the picture above) that we’ve been eyeing at Barang-Barang, and at a cheaper price too! And the whole set going for 20% cheaper than the original price. It cannot get better than this :) Now to get that elusive coffee and side table…
