Forever Love

Binding us together in perfect harmony

Although the Singapore Flyer has been around for some time, we hadn’t really got time to take a ride in it on weekdays especially when we don’t fancy squeezing in with others on weekends.

So for our ROM anniversary this year, there’s no better time to go since eL had taken a day’s leave and it was the September school holiday. Twilight was beautiful! We were also glad that we had the whole capsule to ourselves until two other men came in when it was about time to take off. What a spoilsport! Nevertheless, with them around, one of them volunteered to help us take photos of us which would not be possible with us alone. :)

Dinner was at Seafood Paradise Inn. Sumptuous! The crab was great!

Happy ROM Anniversary, dear, and cheers to many more years to come! :)

eL booked the package “Time-for-2” consisting of a night’s stay at Fullerton hotel Quay Room with 4-course room-dining as a celebration for my birthday. It coincided with the 2nd N.E. show so we got to walk down to One Fullerton to view the fireworks in the evening before strolling back to our hotel to have our dinner in the room. A refreshing change to having dinner in the restaurant. The ‘waiter’ pushed in a convertible table and an extra chair. Fit just nicely in the small space beside our bed. As we had a great view overlooking the Singapore River, we just drew our curtains to let the natural street lights shine in. A great getaway!

Picture time!

As I had to recuperate post-op last Dec, we didn’t have a chance to go overseas then. Furthermore, with the moving of my school this June, eL was so sweet to plan a March holiday getaway for us this year.

Initially, we planned to go to both Melbourne and Adelaide but due to some events going on in Adelaide this period, we had to forgo the idea and just stick to Melbourne and its surrounding areas.

We would have loved to stay for a longer period of time but due to a staff CIP activity that I need to attend with my school, we could only leave on 16 March (Mon) and arrived in Singapore on 22 March (Sun) when I needed to go back to school the next day.

Nevertheless, it was a good break and we really needed it to rejuvenate.

I booked a 2days-1night stay at the Amara Sanctuary Resort in Sentosa to celebrate eL’s birthday. Sentosa has changed a lot since I visited it the last time. No more Monorail and it’s replaced by the Sentosa Express. Thought we could have a ride on the Sentosa Express to view the island initially but realised that it’s only a means of tranport from one station to another and there are more fingers than the number of stations to count.

Day 1:

We boarded the Sentosa Express at the Imbiah station near our hotel and alighted at the next beach station and toured around it. We planned to take the sky ride and Luge tomorrow. I also bought tickets for the night’s “Songs of the Sea”. Tickets to the 7.40 p.m. show were sold out so we settled for the 8.40 p.m. show which was just nice timing after our dinner.

We had dinner at Thanying near the hotel and although pricey, the food was great! I’m so glad eL had enjoyed all the dishes especially the fish maw soup which tasted like sharks’ fin soup. Talking about it makes me wanna return for another meal again! :p

After dinner, we went to watch the award-winning, “Songs of the Sea”. For 25 min, it was indeed a spectacular show (although the story was pretty lame)! No more boring musical fountain!

Then, I bought a tiramisu cake and iced mocha for eL which unfortunately was slightly crushed by the time we reached our hotel. Nevetheless, it is the thought that counts, right? :)

Day 2: Palawan Beach Southern Most Point of Continental Asia

We woke up and visited the Palawan Beach. We visited our secret paktoring hangout near the Southern Most Point of Continental Asia, which had since been unaccessible. Good memories! ;)

I was looking forward to the sky ride but by the time I boarded it, my fear of heights got the better of me and I ended up grabbing the handrail while making sure that my hat wasn’t blown away and my slippers hadn’t fallen out. :p Actually, it wasn’t really scary as it was a smooth ride. If there’s another chance in future, I’m going to ride again to conquer my fear of heights. :)

Enjoyed riding on the Luge! I think it’s more fun than riding the Go-Kart. Have a go at it if you ever go to Sentosa!

We thought of trying out the Eco-Ride but it was quite costly and due to the lack of time, we missed it.

Although we spent only 2 days there, the experience was rejuvenating! It really felt like we just had a short vacation out of Singapore without thinking about work. (Minus off eL wondering if his patient has delivered and I getting a phonecall from a colleague about work.)

Happy birthday, eL! Hope you have enjoyed the birthday celebration I had planned!
